Cal. 8.15x46R, S# 482. Bbl. 29". Blade front sight. Lange Vizer rear sight graduated to 2000m. Haenel-made Gew 98-style serviceman's rifle, or "Wehrmannsgewehr". Matching numbers on bolt, buttplate, rear band, trigger parts, underside of receiver, and bbl. Bbl. channel of stock also has pencil-matching numbers. Other parts have mixed numbers or are unnumbered. Top of the receiver is marked "ORIGINAL HAENEL-LORENZ" with the circled H logo. Underside of the bbl. is marked with German "BUG" proofs, 3/27 date, and "7.7mm" marking. Blued finish. Walnut stock set with grasping grooves and repaired duffel cut between bands. Replacement cleaning rod is present. CONDITION: stock set has added varnish with a crack at the front of the handguard, scattered dings, scratches, & handling wear. Some screws exhibit slot damage. Metal retains 50% of its original blue, with overall fading & scattered oxidation. Very good bore that will likely clean up better. PROVENANCE: from the lifelong collection of Robert "Mike" Bricker.
