HAINS RAYMOND: (1926–2005)
HAINS RAYMOND: (1926–2005) French visual artist and a founder member of Nouveau Réalisme. An unusual original signed collage, executed on a colour 6 x 4 postcard depicting the Sacré-Cœur, Montmartre, Paris, the artist having applied and torn away portions of a separate postcard reproduction of a nineteenth-century marine painting to create a striking juxtaposition in which the basilica is revealed at the centre of the landscape. Signed by Hains in blue ink to the verso and dated 1996 in his hand. VG
