HALF OF A DOG TAG - GERMANY, THIRD REICH

Half of a metal identification tag with a single hole has been preserved. It bears the stamped number “34” and the designation “Stab Fahr-Ers.Abtg.3,” indicating the headquarters of the 3rd Reserve Rolling Stock Unit. The unit was formed on August 27, 1939, in Fürstenwalde on the Spree, and in February 1943, it was reorganized into a reserve and training unit. The reverse side is smooth, with no markings.
