The eight-sided, tall vase with bulbous body and slender neck with everted rim, decorated overall in a dripped greenish-brown glaze falling unevenly towards the base, forming large pools around the foot, shell stilt marks to the base; in fitted wood storage box (tomobako) with attestation by Hamada's son Hamada Shinsaku (b. 1929): Shoji saku (made by Shoji), sealed Sho, and titled Ameyu mentori kabin (Flower vase with chamfered sides and brown glaze) and signed Shinsaku shiki
