Oil on board, 16" x 20". Framed 19.5" x 23.5".
Born in New York in 1898, Wolcott served in World War I before working as a stockbroker and eventually working his first art-related job as an advertising graphic artist. He studied at the Art Students' League in New York and the National Academy of Design under Hans Hoffman. In the late 1940s, he left his advertising job to devote more time to painting. He began teaching classes in 1949 upon moving to Southport, Connecticut. He served as the Art Director of the Hudson River Museum for more than 12 years and continued to teach art. He was represented by Grand Central Art Gallery in New York, as well as Portraits, Inc., and the Bendann Art Gallery of Baltimore.
