HEDDON BATWING DECOY IN UNCATALOGUED SLATE
Heddon’s Slate finish was never a catalog option on their spearing decoys, making this beauty a very rare find. This example has evenly scattered varnish flakes and a small chip off the belly weight, grading about Excellent Minus. Clearly marked “2nd” next to the 3 sets of HPGM, this iteration has the attached tail (new in 1919), 3-loop pigtail line tie, and clear glass eyes. Certainly, one of the highest-grade examples in this special-order color. Dimensions: 4 - 1/4" L.
