HENKEL / SPIGLE ATTRIBUTED, BOTETOURT CO., VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED EARTHENWARE / REDWARE JAR, lead- and manganese-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with thin flat-top rim and pronounced foot. Featuring six to nine incised rings above and below band of sine waves beneath shoulder. Attributed to Jesse Henkel or Philip Spigle, Amsterdam, Botetourt Co., VA. 1830-1850. 9" H, 5 3/4" D rim.
Some chips and flakes to rim and base with a few glaze flakes to shoulder and wear to rim interior.
