Henry James Holiday (1839-1927) best known for his work as an illustrator and stained glass designer. Born in London, Holiday began his career as an apprentice to stained glass artist Nathaniel Westlake, and he went on to establish his own studio in the 1860s.

Holiday's work as a stained glass designer was highly regarded, and he created windows for many notable buildings in England, including St. Paul's Cathedral in London and the chapel at Exeter College, Oxford. He was also involved in the design of several major public monuments, including the Albert Memorial in London.

In addition to his work in stained glass, Holiday was an accomplished illustrator, and he provided illustrations for many books and magazines during his career. Perhaps his most famous illustration is "The Jabberwocky," a fantastical poem from Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking Glass," which Holiday illustrated with a series of intricate and imaginative drawings.
