HUGE CELTIC IBERIAN GILDED SILVER TORQUE

Ca. 400 - 200 BC.
A striking Celtic Iberian silver torc (torq, torque) with elongated tips. It is richly decorated with a filigree pattern covering half of the torc and ending with a semi-sphere. The necklace has a central twisted body with a polygonal section. This is composed of four alternating ridges and four concave parts. Decorated with a line of gold granules and closing with a hook that fits into a hoop. Where the polygonal section transforms into a tubular section, one finds small decorative panels embellished with engraved decorative motifs. For similar see: I Celti Bompiani, 1991, p. 399. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
