Hughie Lee-Smith exhibited his works with the Janet Nessler Gallery (formerly Petite Gallery) from 1959-1964. In 1962, Janet Nessler Gallery hosted five concurrent exhibitions of five artists, including Lee-Smith, in which the common theme was landscapes. Based on the title, It is possible that this work was shown in the 1962 exhibition about which Brian O'Doherty of the New York Times wrote: "He invites us to stand back and look over barren foregrounds of sand and water to a remote middle distance where most of the action takes place -".
