HURRICANE - c.1957
“Hurricane Ahead”
“Based on DUBOUT”
Rare, original, single-sided lithographed advertising sheet metal.
Generous size: 70 x 49 cm. “Chambon - Nantes”
Featuring a superb, humorous illustration signed “based on Albert DUBOUT” for the French spearfishing equipment company Hurricane.
A comical hunter ready for battle, over-equipped with a hammer, a sword, a pistol, and a grenade!
A very dynamic design that captures Dubout’s satirical style.
In very good overall condition—
The original colors are remarkably well-preserved, retaining their original freshness and superb luminous brilliance.
Minimal localized traces of oxidation in the upper left corner and slight, minor surface irregularities.
On the word “FUSIL,” the last two letters have been repainted at the factory to correct an original typo.
A sound piece with magnificent presence.
Hurricane was founded by the company Hurrisport in the late 1940s at 15 rue Clément-Marot in Paris.
As early as 1947, the brand filed patents for latex masks with filter lenses, such as the Argonaute and the Valvomatic, before launching its famous Super Palmes Fusée in 1957.
The company permanently ceased operations in the 1960s.
