Haim Sokol
Artist, teacher of the Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia. A. Rodchenko, member of the editorial board of the "Art Journal".

In his work, the artist addresses the topic of alienation, isolation and broken ties in the modern world. Working with archival materials and private documents, he opens the history of the twentieth century through the prism of private destinies, explores the problems of historical memory and the modern socio-political situation.

Was born in 1973 in Arkhangelsk, USSR. Graduated from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Moscow Institute of Contemporary Art. His solo exhibitions were held in the M&J Guelman gallery (Moscow), the Triumph gallery (Moscow), the Anna Nova gallery (St. Petersburg) and other galleries. In 2008, he took part in the large-scale exhibition "Russian Poor" (Museum of Contemporary Art, Perm), in 2014 - a participant in the project "Performance in Russia. Cartography of History "(Museum of Contemporary Art" Garage ", Moscow) and in different years - other significant exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
He took an active part in major international art projects: 1st International Biennale for Young Art (Moscow, 2008), 3rd Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2009), 2nd Biennale of Contemporary Art in Thessaloniki (2009), Mediations biennale (Poznan 2010), 1st Kochi and Muziris Biennale (India, 2012), 2nd Kiev Biennale (2015), and was also selected by the curatorial council of Garage Museum of Contemporary Art as a participant of the Garage Workshops program (VDNKh , January - July 2019).
In 2009 he was awarded a special prize in the "New Generation" category at the All-Russian competition "Innovation" in the field of contemporary art and the professional award "Companion". In 2015, he received the Innovation-2014 award in the "Visual Art" nomination.

Works are in the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery; Moscow Museum of Modern Art; Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow; National Center for Contemporary Art, PERMM, Museum of Contemporary Art, Perm, Stella Art Foundation, Vladimir Smirnov and Konstantin Sorokin Foundation, Collection of Loushy: Arts & Projects, Tel Aviv, Israel.
Since 2007 he has been living and working in Moscow.
