Hammersley Queen Anne Hand Painted Plate 1912-1932

Antique Hammersley, large (10.1/4" across) bone china porcelain plate / platter, hand painted Queen Anne Pattern, hand-marked "13166-C." The porcelain mark on the bottom with the name in full with a crown and additional "England" was in use 1912-1932.

In 1885, due to the retirement of Harvey Adams, "Harvey Adams & Co" was taken over by George Harris Hammersley. Since 1888, the business was continued by Sarah Hammersley and George's brother, Gilbert Hammersley. Hammersley Company manufactured fine bone china dinnerware until selling out to Copeland (Spode) in 1966. Royal Worcester, in turn, purchased Spode in 1976. The new owners continued producing fine bone china tableware under the respected Hammersley name until 1988 when the Hammersley brand was sold to Aynsley China.
