Hand-Wrought Iron Equestrian Sculpture
A modernist hand-wrought iron sculpture depicting a stylized horse and rider. The equestrian figure is characterized by an elongated form with four tapering legs and a simplified, vertical torso for the rider. The rider holds a set of twisted wire reins that are attached to the muzzle of the horse. The neck of the horse features a series of incised zig-zag geometric patterns along the right side. The entire sculpture is finished with a dark, textured patina that shows evidence of the manual forging process. The piece is self-standing on its four integral legs. A small, circular indentation is visible on the interior of one front leg, but the mark is not legible and does not spell a name. The sculpture is shown resting on a separate leather pad which is not a part of the iron work. 11.5 x 13 x 2.5 inches.
