The scroll is by the former head of Gojo Tenjin Shrine, in Ueno, Tokyo, founded in 1627 to enshrine Tokugawa Shogunate founder Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616) . Here Ieyasu was called “the god lord” by the Shogunate. His name is read Segawa Dokuji (The Segawa family have been at the shrine since the 1600s.)
