Artist’s statement: When viewed from a distance, this painting seems like a mere painting of a group of koi fish swimming in a beautiful pond, but if you look closely, you can see that these fish are forming Arabic lafadz with the inscription of “Allah”. Nine koi fish symbolizes good luck, while 9 is the highest digit in both Chinese and Javanese culture, so it is believed to be able to generate positive energy, especially in work.
