Harold Newton, American (1934-1994). This may be one of the most important paintings by Harold Newton, one of the very first Florida Highwaymen, and is considered to be one of the most gifted. This painting was published in Rosetta Newton Humphries book 'Harold Newton-The Man Behind The Art'. Harold Newton's brother, Sam Newton, had this painting on display in his gallery, writing on verso. This is a very different subject matter from what Harold Newton and almost all Florida Highwaymen painted. Oil on masonite, mounted in wood frame and signed lower right.
