A second edition was printed in London the following year, with the title The Wild Sports of Southern Africa; a third edition was published in 1841, also using the amended title but incorporating a suite of 24 hand-coloured lithographic plates. Provenance: Admiral Sir Thomas Hastings (1786-1870), British naval officer, with his ownership inscription ('Sir Thos. Hastings, R. Naval College') to the half-title.
