Harry S. Truman Typed Letter Signed

TLS as president signed â€Å“H.S.T.,â€Â one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, February 16, 1949. Letter to the Hon. William M. Boyle, Jr., vice-chairman of the Democratic National Committee. In full: "I am enclosing you copy of a letter which I have just received from Shannon Douglass together with copy of my reply." In fine condition, with a rusty paperclip impression to the top edge. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and one of the enclosures referenced, a copy of Truman's letter to Douglass, in part: "You can rest assured that the dirty columnists headed by Duke Shoop, Walter Winchell and Pearson will do everything they can to smear Bill Boyle. That is customary with anyone who happens to be in any way connected with me in a confidential manner."
