Third party transportation required. The Haunted Mansion was conceived by Disney artist Harper Goff in 1951 and was completed in 1969. One of the most complicated rides to be built at Disneyland, it also quickly became a crowd favorite thanks in no small part to its stretching portraits, which were placed in a room with” no windows and no doors” and would stretch before delighted riders’ eyes as they descended deeper into the ride inside of a pair of elevators.
