Hawaii Oil Painting Iolani Bandstand Margaret McMillan
Up for sale from a recent client in Honolulu Hawaii, this 1980s Hawaii framed oil on canvas painting that is titled "Iolani Bandstand"depicting the bandstand at Iolani Palace that was build for the coronation of King Kalaukawa in the 1880s and was painted by the locally well known artist Margaret McMillan (1923-2019). Margaret Sullivan McMillan 96, passed away on 6 Aug 2019. Margaret was born in New Jersey, oldest daughter of James and Eleanor Sullivan and raised in Panama. She attended Radcliffe College, worked the State Department and travelled the world. She married Col. John H. McMillan and had a daughter, Katherine McMillan. After several different duty stations the family ended up in Hawai'i. Margaret continued studying art, becoming a successful local landscape painter.
Condition: The painting and frame are in overall in good acceptable original pre-owned condition, the gilt frame with some wear to the finish in places, stained fabric liner, the painting is good no flaking stable,"
