Peter Hawker (1786-1853) served during the Peninsular Campaign, leading his squadron of the 14th Light Dragoons in the Battle of Douro in May 1809 & earning the battle honour 'Douro' for the regiment's colours. He is best known for his works on shooting and wildfowling, most notably his Advice to Young Sportsmen, 1814.
