Head - Pottery - Costa Rica

Pre-Columbian Costa Rican double face vessel. Orange-brown pottery double sided head vessel, sharing the same decorated hairdo. One side depicts a face having an open oval mouth, incised (jaguar or sea lion?) whiskers and large expressive eyes. The opposing side depicts a partly human/jaguar/sea lion face with a toothy grimace and incised whiskers. Time period: 500 - 1000 ADDimensions: 16 cm high - 17 cm wide. Condition: very good, with some minor scattered losses and a few stable hair lines. Loss to the base rim and some remaining glue residue from being attached to a base Provenance: USA auctionhouse.
