Heavy cavalry saber with the imperial eagle.
Hilt derived from the “battle guard” style, made of chiseled and gilded brass.
The pommel features a skirt decorated with lines; from the joint arch extend four branches connecting the piece to the crowned eagle and palmette, forming an enveloping guard.
A small secondary branch connects to the crossguard.
Wooden tang covered with filigree-patterned leather.
A sturdy blade with two hollow edges, engraved, blued, and gilded one-third of the way up, notably featuring a horseman wearing a chenille helmet.
It is marked on the heel with “NARRANIED” and “BARISONI,” recalling the French occupation of Italy.
Leather scabbard with three chiseled and gilded brass fittings.
Total length: 115 cm.
Later production, likely commissioned by the collector Romel (1870–1830).
