Helen Mary Therese Grunwald ARCA, British/Austrian 1925-1988 - The Orchestra; watercolour with bodycolour and crayon on board, inscribed by another hand verso 'Helen Grunwald 1926-1988 Ex. Studio A.R.C.A.', 23 x 30.5 cm (ARR) Note: Grunwald was a Jewish artist born in Vienna in 1925. Along with her mother she fled Austria in 1939 to escape the Nazi invasion. After settling in Britain she would go on to study under Henry Carr at the Beckenham School of Art from 1941-44, and then under Carel Weight at the Royal College of Art from 1949-52.
