Hellenistic Gold Earring Pair with Eros

2nd-1st century BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each a hoop with applied facing winged figure of Eros modelled in the half-round. Cf. Marshall, F. H., British Museum Catalogue of the Jewellery Greek, Etruscan and Roman, British Museum, 1969, no.1900, for a very similar example.2.55 grams total, 18mm each (3/4"). Ex North London gentleman; formerly in a private collection formed between 1990 and 2000.[2]
