Hellenistic and Egyptian Votive Lamp Collection
1st century BC and earlier. A mixed group of four miniature votive ceramic oil lamps, comprising: one slipper-shaped with raised knop to shoulder, decorated with geometric motifs in relief, related to the Petrie's group of dolphin lamps; one globular-bodied with discoid nozzle; one with discoid body and 'square' nozzle; one twin-nozzle type with loop handle and roundel of circular recesses to the discus. 70 grams total, 40-65mm (1 1/2 - 2 1/2"). From the collection of a deceased gentleman, Preston, Lancashire, UK; acquired from a central London ADA member's gallery before 2000. [4]
