From a stylistic point of view it falls within the frame of mannerism. His date of birth is unknown, and it is recorded that in 1587 he was working in Rome. In 1594 he returned to Brussels, joining the court of Archduke Ernest of Austria. On his death, Hendrick continued to work for Archduke Albert VII. The Prado Museum has four of his works, two of them in collaboration with Denis van Alsloot (Landscape with Diana and Actaeon and Paradise with the four elements, deposited in the Museum of Fine Arts of Granada) and one in collaboration with Jan Brueghel de Velours (Abundance and the four elements) , corresponding in them the figures to De Clerck.
