Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004) was a French photographer famous for his exceptional candid photography. He helped to pioneer the street photography genre and was one of the founding members of Magnum Photos in 1947. After effectively retiring from photography in the 1970s, Cartier-Bresson turned to drawing and painting as his main art medium.
