um 1900, auf der Plinthe signiert H. Gauquié, recto betitelt "fac et spera" [lat. Tun und Hoffen], Bronze dunkelbraun patiniert, männlicher Halbakt, lediglich von seiner Schürze bedeckt, in der er die Saat zum Bestellen des Feldes transportiert und die er mit einer Hand vor dem Körper gerafft hält, die andere Hand zum Wurf zurückgezogen, auf naturalistisch gestalteter Plinthe, eine Gussnaht am Fuß sichtbar, leichte Altersspuren, H 81 cm. Künstlerinfo: französischer Bildhauer (1858 Flers-lez-Lille bis 1927 Paris), war Schüler von René Fache an der Akademie von Valenciennes, nach einem Wettkampf in Lille erhielt er ein Abteilungsstipendium, das es ihm ermöglichte, sein künstlerisches Studium an der Kunsthochschule in Paris im Atelier von Jules Cavelier fortzusetzen, 1886 dritter Preis und ein Reisestipendium des Ministeriums für Unterricht und Bildende Kunst für seine Gruppe "Perseus", nach einem Jahr in Italien und Belgien Rückkehr nach Frankreich, ausgezeichnet mit einem zweiten Platz für das Werk "Brennus" im Salon von 1890, gewann einen ersten Preis im Salon von 1895 für seine Marmorgruppe "Bacchante und Satyre", die der Stadt Tourcoing gehörte, entwarf mehrere öffentliche Denkmäler, von denen die meisten durch Wettbewerbe erlangt und in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Architekten Henri Guillaume ausgeführt wurden. Tun und Hoffen], dark brown patinated bronze, male half nude, only covered by his apron, in which he carries the seeds for tilling the field and which he holds gathered in front of his body with one hand, the other hand pulled back for throwing, on a naturalistically designed plinth, a cast seam visible at the foot, slight signs of age, h 81 cm. Artist information: French sculptor (1858 Flers-lez-Lille - 1927 Paris), was a pupil of René Fache at the Valenciennes Academy, after a competition in Lille he received a departmental scholarship which enabled him to continue his artistic studies at the art academy in Paris in the studio of Jules Cavelier, third prize in 1886 and a travelling scholarship from the Ministry of Education and Fine Arts for his group "Perseus", after a year in Italy and Belgium, returned to France, awarded a second prize for the work "Brennus" at the 1890 Salon, won a first prize at the 1895 Salon for his marble group "Bacchante and Satyre", which belonged to the town of Tourcoing, designed several public monuments, most of which were obtained through competitions and executed in collaboration with the architect Henri Guillaume.
