Henri DUVIEUX (1855-1920) "Venise au soleil couchant" A student of Prosper MARILHAT, Henri DUVIEUX made his debut at the Salon in 1880 and specialized in the views of Venice and Constantinople, for which he is actively sought after. His works are exhibited in various museums. . . Avignon, Reims. . . The particularity of this work lies in the use of pink hues that give it a certain softness and charm (usually the blue and yellow tones dominate with Duvieux) . Oil on canvas. 40 x 65 cm (with new frame: approx. 50 x 75 cm) Signed on the bottom left Very good overall condition, on its original canvas,note some light repainting, signs of rubbing due to an old frame at the edge of the canvas and a tack (tiny upholstery nail) in each angle The artwork has just been entirely cleaned and is back to its pretty colours.
