Henri Lebasque Women at Waters Edge Oil Painting

LEBASQUE, Henri Baptiste, (French, 1865-1937): "Femmes au bord de l'eau", two women at the waters edge, Oil/Canvas, signed lower right, Wally Findlay string tag verso, writing on tag indicates the two women are Lebasques daughters. Measures 28" x 20.5", framed 38" x 30". Condition: Relined, there appears to be repair or restoration running down the left side of the painting. Sold with all faults. Provenance: From a private Florida collection, sold with a copy of the original receipt an guarantee from Wally Findlay Gallery dated 1967. Also sold with a copy of a 2017 Christie's appraisal for $50,000. This painting has been in the same family for over 50 years through four generations. Originally purchased in the 1960’s by Martin Weiner, New York textile and real estate mogul, an original investor in the Empire State Building. Passed by descent in 1969 to daughter Iris, then passed to husband Dr. Sanfurd G. Bluestein also in 1969, then passed to current owner in 2014.
