1887 - 1968

La Pie

Designed circa 1936
Silvered bronze and marble base
Signed PROSZYNSKI on the base of the bronze
47 x 24 x 12 cm ; 18 ½ x 9 ½ x 4 ¾ in.

Condition Report:
Good overall condition.
The silvered bronze surface presents with scattered minor surface irregularities, such as a few pinholes, which are inherent to the making, as well as areas of wear, mostly on the head and on the tip of the tail and revealing the original color of the bronze and oxidation in places with a vert de gris stain in the recessed area of one wing, all consistent with the aging process of the material.
The silvered bronze also presents with scattered scuffs and tiny dents mainly located along the edges as well as some abrasions in places, all commensurate with age and use.
We observe one feather of the tail slightly bent.
The marble base presents with light wear, a few scuffs and minute chips along the edges.

Catalogue Note:
A similar model was exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Animaliers in Paris in 1936.

Provenance:
Éric Pillon Enchères, Versailles, 19 March 2017, lot 105
