Dimensions:
without frame: 35. 5 x 51cm (14 x 20 inches)
including frame: 49 x 64cm (19. 3 x 25. 2 inches)

Offered is a seascape by Henri Rouart, one of the main figures within the impressionistic art movement.

The oil painting is in good condition, Julian from Baumgartner Restoration in Chicago restored it in 2021.
He removed some old unnecessary overpaint and renewed the varnish. Condition report and invoice from Baumgartner Restoration is included.
It comes with an antique French silver plated frame, which harmoniously matches the painting.

HENRI ROUART:
Co-founder and important member of the: "Société anonyme d' artistes"
He is known for being in close contact with basically all the important painters within and around the impressionistic art movement (Manet, Rousseau, Millet, Corot, Monet, Renoir, Sisley, Guillaumin, Morisot, Degas. . . . .)
Hid friend Edgar Degas painted Rouart several times, see for example: (Edgar Degas: Henri Rouart in front of his factory ca, 1875, Carnegie Museum of art) .

He exhibited at the "Salon de Paris" in: 1868, 1869, 1870, 1872.
1973, his pictures got shown at the Salon des Refusés.
He took part in 7 of 8 impressionist exposures, including the legendary first on in 1874 in the former photo studio of Nadar. Further he exhibited in the years 1876, 1877, 1879, 1880, 1881, 1886) .
