Henry IV King of France (rein 1572-1610) Framed hand written document signed 'H Potier'. Document dated September 20, 1604, framed with typewritten translation. Notice on reverse: 'Henry IV. L.S. 1p. Fol., Fontainebleau, Feb. 20(?), 1604. To M. de Bougtheroude, later Baron, Councillor of State and President of the 'cours de Parlement' at Nantes. Concerning assistance to be given in carrhing out orders Henry has issued to his cousin, the Duc de Montpensier, at that time Governor of Normandy.' Framed and glazed. 4lb Also known by the epithet 'Good King Henry', was King of Navarre (as Henry III) from 1572 to 1610 and King of France from 1589 to 1610. He was the first monarch of France from the House of Bourbon, another branch of the Capetian dynasty (through Louis IX, as the previous House of Valois had been through Philip II). He was assassinated in 1610 by François Ravaillac, and was succeeded by his son Louis XIII. Approx.
