Heraldic 'de Grey' Family Horse Harness Pendant

13th-14th century AD. A bronze quatrefoil harness pendant with enamelled fronds surrounding a heater shield with heraldic blazon 'Barry of six argent and azure a bend gules'; attributed to Robert de Grey in the 13th century St. George's Roll of Arms. 8.87 grams, 42mm (1 1/2"). Ex Nicholson collection, Cambridgeshire, UK; formerly the property of her father, thence by descent. Sir Robert de Grey of Rotherfield, Oxfordshire, was born in 1245 and died around 1295 at Henley-on-Thames. [No Reserve]
