Once occupied by Alexander the Great and invaded by Genghis Khan and Timur, the city once known as ‘The Pearl of Khorasan’ raises from the ashes of thousands of battles to offer us again its magnificent rugs, woven by hand by the Turkmen tribes that inhabit the area. Full of geometrical designs, red, dark purple and black colours provide the base of its colourfulness. Made of strong and versatile indigenous wool from the Afghan mountains, with cotton warp and weft.
