A signed photograph of President Herbert Hoover with his favorite dog, King Tut , [Washington, D.C.], n.d. [ca. 1922-1929]. Signed in blue ink at the lower left corner, "Herbert Hoover." King Tut was a Belgian Malinois and Herbert Hoover's favorite of his family pets. The Hoovers acquired Tut from a friend around 1922, when he was probably one or two years old. King Tut was taken care of by the Hoovers' good friend, U.S. Senator Frederic Collin Walcott, who was renting the house on S Street. Tut died on October 14, 1929.
