Fabulous trumpet vase, produced by Herend -
"Rothschild Bird Collection", extremely rare, in excellent to immaculate condition.
This magnificent vase is a complex pattern, a well-known hand-painted motif with birds perched in the branches and scattered insects, heavily gilded.
It is marked and numbered on the back of the base with the Herend shield stamp. Herend First Choice.
This pattern was first created in 1850 for the European Rothschild family and is considered the emblem of hand painting on porcelain.
Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century story about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Viennese residence.
Several days later it was found by his gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree.
