They are generally specimens of great longevity and resistance, with a fairly large knot and, in absolute terms, among the most resistant of Persian production. The designs are derived from the classic medallion schemes of the nearby city of Tabriz, but highly stylized and reinterpreted in a completely different style and chromatic taste from the latter. Heriz medallions have stylized stellar shapes that can stretch almost to the edge of carpets.
