Herman Bosboom was born in 1920. At the National Institute of Art Teachers in Amsterdam, he was taught by Jan van Tongeren, among others. He would later teach at the T. H. in Delft, Department of Architecture. Hardly any work by Bosboom is known that does not show water. His ship portraits and harbor installations are not only always clear and balanced, but also testify to a profound technical insight and a keen eye for detail.
