HILDA VIKA (married EGLITE)
(1879-1963)
She was born at Riga; her father was a worker at liqueur factory. Her first drawing teacher was a German artist Gerhard Fon Rozen, at Riga German craft school for girls (1908 – 1914). At 1 World war time she worked as a compassionate sister, nurse, maid at Russia, Lithuania and Poland. She returned at Latvia, after graduation book keeping curse, she worked as a clerk. But Vika wonted to learn painting, because she started attend R. Sutas studio, at National higher school (1920 – 1922) than she continued education at A. Zauers and U. Skulmes studies.
Vika worked at oil, aquarelle, drawing and her style was romanticism, paintings character sensitive, idealized women’s world life, where mainly dominate a subjective looking. She painted also mythological figurative aquarelles and drawings.

Self exhibitions: Riga 1933 / 1934, 1937, 1940, 1943, 1959, 1960: Dobele 1960.
