His Masters Voice - 102 78 rpm grammophone player
His Master Voice
Weight 7. 5 KG
Black
Dimensions 41×29×16 cm
The Gramphone Compani LTD, Hayes, Middlesex
The British company was actually called Gramophone, but due to the famous painting by Francis Barraud "His Master's Voice" which portrays the little dog Nipper listening to a gramophone, used as a trademark on the label, it soon took on this unofficial denomination.
The late 1920s and early 1930s HMV gramophone models pictured here added a further dimension to musical appreciation. In its compact suitcase, with space to store records in the lid, it was portable and relatively easy to move around the house or other locations. As such, it was an early form of music recorded in motion.
