Historical piece: Renaissance buffet in walnut - From the sacristy of Saint Vincent of the commandery - Early 17th century
Historic piece circa 1600 for this Renaissance period sideboard, coming from the sacristy of Saint Vincent de la Commanderie. We can find in this masterpiece the inspiration of the school of Fontainebleau. Opening in front by 4 leaves and 2 drawers. Presence of the putto in the upper part, symbol of benevolence on the family. Abundant decorations of characters, unfortunately beheaded during the Inquisition of the 18th century. (The black legend of the Inquisition started in the 18th century with historians of the Enlightenment, wishing to discredit Christianity, which at the time was strongly associated with the concept of monarchy) . Cut in a pyramidal ledge decoration. Made entirely of solid walnut, circa 1600-1620. h242 x 139 x 56.
