Eight military and diplomatic letters and documents, mainly French and Italian, 1615-1824.

Early seventeenth-century letter by Monsieur Desmarets, a French envoy in London, to M. de Puysieur (the minister in Paris), written partly in code which has been transcribed, discussing regiments in Navarre, Picardy and Flanders, M. d' Arquien, the Maréschal de Bois, the Prince de "Witgenstain", German cavalry movements and other military matters, 3 pages, folio, London, 11 October 1615--Cisalpine Republic in Italy. Three military orders signed by Teulié (Milan, 1797), Oudinet (Milan, 7 July 1800), Giordani (Ferrara, 6 November 1802), and another signed by Palliser, William and Mason (London, 27 January 1773)--Carl Mayer von Rothschild. Letter signed, to Commander Ferdinand de Girardi in Naples, Paris, 11 December 1824--Francesco Castiglioni (Pius VIII, 1829-1830). Two autograph letters as Cardinal ("J.J. Card. Castilioni" etc), to Giuseppe Natalo Babbirelli in Fermo, 2 pages, 4to, Rome and Cesena, 26 February 1816 & 10 July 1817
