The frigate “Jylland” was upgraded to Royal yacht in 1874 off the coast of Frederikshavn during a cruise to Iceland in order to participate in the 1000 year anniversary. As Queen Louise was prone to seasickness, Christian IX had to leave the Royal Yacht Slesvig at home, and use the frigat Jylland as a substitute. This cruise was to be the first of many as Royal vessel.
