"The Home Bible, Arranged for Family Reading from the King James Version", by Ruth Hornblower Greenough, With illustrations by William Blake, decorations by Rudolph Ruzicka, published by Harper and Brothers, New York, First edition, later printing; copyright 1950, Harper letter code B-A [January 1952].

"The Home Bible" is set forth under large and logical headings, as, for example, "The Creation," "History of Israel," "The Life of Jesus," etc. Reverently edited and arranged by Ruth Hornblower Greenough, the Bible emerges as literature more forcibly than ever before. Here the great lines of the history of the salvation of mankind stand out clearly: the beauty, strength, and spiritual truth contained in the Book can be more easily absorbed than in any other form, The Home Bible is a smooth flowing narrative constructed from the King James Version of the Old and New Testaments and the Apocrypha- a book that can be read in continuity like a modern volume.

"William Blake (1757-1827) a painter, poet, and prophet. Disregarding all influence in art except that of Michelangelo he early turned inward to the world of imagination and vision which he found most real and there pursued a lonely but radiant way. In pictures he tried to express his inmost belief in the harmony of truth and form, using symmetry in design, and flowing lines which give a sense of motion and a binding of all into a perfect wholeness. His spaces truly seem infinite yet bounded. More clearly to interpret the Bible, Blake learned Hebrew and Greek and devised symbols to express good and evil. Success he seldom knew; followers he had none; friends and supporters only a few. Today, his place is secure among the world's most original geniuses. One, in speaking of him, has said, "The Divine Blake, sir, who has seen God and talked with Angels."
