His specialities include oil and acrylic paintings but he has also done work in the form of wood carvings, ink drawings, as well as, murals and signs for local companies. Painting with his father from the age of five, Hector has been expanding and evolving his art for many years. During Hector's childhood and teenage years, he worked with his brothers doing wood carvings and frames with their father. Graduating from Valley High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he continued his studies at the University of New Mexico where he studied art, art history and architecture. Shortly after he was offered a position at the University of New Mexico to teach art. Hector specializes in southwestern art, painting pottery and still life’s, painting animals such as, horses, sheep, cows, deer, elk, and all types of birds among others. Hector has also been commissioned to paint various portraits, objects and characters. His art has been displayed in the New Mexico Arts and Crafts Fair in addition to the professional building in the New Mexico State Fair. In resent years he has sold paintings and prints at the New Mexico State Fair in the Villa Hispana. His art is displayed in many galleries both in Albuquerque and around the state. In 2005 Hector established Reflections of New Mexico, a fine art business, which is run by him and his sons today.
