Hostilian, Aureus, 251, Rome, Extremely rare, RIC:181b, From the Trausnitz collection., Bust of Hostilian, head bare, draped, right, Hostilian, in military attire, standing left, holding standard in right hand and transverse spear in left hand, Magnificent example of a very rare aureus of Hostilian, with very young traits, on a complete flan, very slight scratches in the fields, and slight circulation wear on the portrait's hair.
Hostilian was elevated to Caesar during the reign of his father Trajan Decius in May 251, with his brother Herennius Etruscus, then became co-emperor with Trebonian Galle in June 251 following the death of his father against the Goths at the battle of Abritus. He died a few months later, in November of the same year, for unknown reasons, perhaps of the plague, or assassinated by Trebonianus.

Hostilien, Aureus, 251, Rome, Extrêmement rare, RIC:181b, Issu de la Collection Trausnitz., Buste d'Hostilien, tête nue, drapé, à droite, Hostilien, en tenue militaire, debout à gauche, tenant un étendard de la main droite et une lance transversale de la main gauche, Magnifique exemplaire d'un aureus très rare d'Hostilien, avec de très jeunes traits, sur un flan complet, de très légères rayures dans les champs, et une légère usure au niveau des cheveux du portrait.
Hostilien a été fait César durant le règne son père Trajan Dèce en Mai 251, avec son frère Herennius Etruscus, puis est devenu co-empereur avec Trébonien Galle en Juin 251 suite à la mort de son père contre les Goths à la bataille d'Abritus. Il meurt quelques mois plus tard, en Novembre de la même année, sans que la raison ne soit connue, peut-être la peste, ou assassiné par Trébonien.
