Howard William Brod American (1949-2008) Landscape with Golfers oil on canvas signed lower right, unframed 36 x 48 in. (91.4 x 121.9 cm.) Biography: Howard was born in Philadelphia, PA, and graduated from Polytechnic High School in Los Angeles and then from U.C. Berkeley in 1933 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked on the construction of the Panama Canal, was the CEO of Metropolitan Airways, the Assistant Engineer of the City of Sierra Madre, and, from 1947-1950, the City of San Carlos' first professional manager. After a long career in industrial development, he retired in 1963 and moved to Pebble Beach in 1973. In his retirement Howard became a commercially successful artist, creating paintings with humorous golf-related themes.
